Mathematics
The mathematics test for applicants to programmes where mathematics is a requirement. It asks you to apply prior learning in university-entry contexts.
Written on the same day as AQL when both are required.
Why matric preparation is not enough
This is a reasoning test under time.
The NBT is not another school subject with a chapter list to revise. Its questions ask you to apply what you already know to material shaped around the demands of first-year university study.
That means a strong school student can still be surprised by dense passages, unfamiliar graphs, tightly timed reasoning and answer choices designed to expose a rushed assumption.
The useful preparation is practice: learn the question forms, make your reasoning explicit, work under time and review why the tempting wrong answer was wrong.
